the practice tv lawyers

the practice is brilliant. last weeks episode of the practice was one of the best i have seen before, and i was waiting for tonights episode of the practice. i wasn't disappointed. i won't go through the whole story, but let me just say that if you aren't watching the practice yet, then you should start.

monday night is brilliant for tv watching, but what makes it worthwhile, more than the comedies and the rest of the programs during the night, is the practice.

Mike Dinoia or Buydomains.com

k - got it - Mike Dinoia owns Buydomains.com, a similar company to ultsearch.

interesting is how they have tools which allow them to snap names the moment they become available on the registers.

Mike Dinoia

a reminder to keep in mind Mike Dinoia and yin ye - they are involved in domain names after they expire. yin ye had a company called ultsearch, which was sold a few months ago to marchex for 160 million bucks.

i'm not sure yet where Mike Dinoia fits into the picture.

ultsearch, yin ye's company is also called names unlimited or something like that, and it appears that there were 100 000 names.

anyone know about Mike Dinoia?

the Jewish 100

busy reading "the Jewish 100" - a ranking of the most influential Jews of all time by Michael Shapiro.

the Jewish 100 is fascinating reading as it gives a mixture of old biblical figures and new modern days people.

however, it's amazing out of the 100 people in the Jewish 100 how many passed away when they were young in their 40's. Makes me realise I need to live each day to the full!

And many of the people in "the Jewish 100" only became famous or well known after they passed away.

Anyway, Michael Shapiro has written an amazing book - i'm really enjoying it. i'm on number 38 at the moment - about to start reading about Leo Szilard.

hating telkom

now i know why there is so much anger around telkom.

i moved apartments a few weeks ago, and wanted my phone and internet lines changed. first telkom have lost the fax we sent them to get the line changed!

then i finally found a helpful lady who gave me a reference number, and told me to phone another number for the installation date.

i have called this number every day this week, and the number is constantly busy. it's impossible to get through to them.

so i called back the helpful lady's number, only to find that this telkom number no longer works.

so i went to the telkom website, and sent a webbased message to the telkom customer support - and haven't had a reply yet.

and i found the adsl number (another one) to call telkom, and managed to get through to someone, and they said that the installation date hadn't been set, and that i must carry on calling the number that is always busy.

i also asked the telkom lady to get customer support to call me, and she said that they would call within 5 minutes. that was 24 hours ago, and i'm still waiting. i'll probably wait forever until telkom actually has the decency to have some customer support.

and then i called the same number this morning, and they said that they can't / won't/ don't want to help and that i must carry on calling the number that is always busy.

so it's now the 7th of the month, i'm paying for my internet line (in south africa internet is expensive for 24x7 connection) and i don't have a landline, so i'm using my cellphone to make every call - including holding on to telkom's queue's for ages, and paying per minute, although i'm calling an 0800 toll free number.

so this is a special thank you to telkom for getting my blood pressure rising, and not giving me the customer service that any half decent company would have.

i await the day when the second national phone operator begins operating. if they're only good and not excellent, they'll be 10 times better than the telkom service.

anyway, back to calling telkom - wish me luck!!

pope al quaeda osama

this appeared in some paper today. i personally don't think it's appropriate to joke about al quaeda in this way

"Rome - Italy's leading news agency has denied reporting that al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden would attend Pope John Paul II's funeral on Friday after a story attributed to it circulated widely on the Internet.

"Some people just won't stop even at a time of mourning for the pope: among the deluge of false emails, viruses and spam, a false item attributed to Ansa is circulating about Osama bin Laden attending the funeral of John Paul II," the Ansa agency said.

In a dispatch issued late on Tuesday, Ansa noted that the prankster, who specified bin Laden would be flying to Rome from Pakistan, had accurately imitated the agency's sign-off style - a series of letters and numbers at the end of every item.

The Saudi-born bin Laden, whose al-Qaeda militant group is blamed by United States authorities for the September 11, 2001 attacks on American cities, is thought to be hiding on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan."

savetoby.com

have you all seen the savetoby.com website. it is crazy. what happens is that some guy has said that unless he receives a donation from you through paypal, that he'll kill his pet rabbit.

savetoby.com is the name of this sick website.

he also has printed all the e-mails from people that are saying what he is doing with savetoby.com is illegal according to peta or other animal rights groups - and he replies by insulting the letters.

savetoby.com also speaks about a movie and book deal he is getting, and also has a huge commerce shop through cafepress.com where he sells mugs, tshirts, caps etc showing the savetoby campaign.

however, when actually clicking on the paypal link, there is a message from paypal that you can't give money to savetoby so i guess all the people compaining about the savetoby site have actually got a voice to be heard.

fashiontv

fashiontv (ftv) is great. the best way to watch fashiontv is to have the radio on in the background, and then have ftv with the mute on

ill health

it hasn't been a good day on the news today.

firstly, it has been widely reported that Terri Shiavo has passed away. and now her husband and her parents are involved in a further confrontation, as her husband wants to have her cremated, which is against the wishes of her parents.

then their was news that Pope John Paul the second, the head of the Vatican, is extremely ill. CNN were debating the reuters report which said that the Pope was gravely ill, while other reports stated that he was seriously ill. However, when speaking to their correspondent in the Vatican city, who it appears speaks Italian, or whichever language the report was in, it turns out that the italian word can be translated either way, either gravely, or seriously.
